FLaSH - Fire, Locks and Safer Homes
If you are worried about your home security or you've been a victim of crime, then this free service can help you. We can send someone to your home to carry out a security and fire safety check and offer you advice on making your home more secure. This may include fitting locks and smoke detectors.

Be safe at home
Sheltered Housing promotes independence in a secure and friendly setting. Advice, support and advocacy are available for all sheltered housing tenants. A 24-hour, 365-day community alarm service helps people stay in their own homes, and additional support and advice is provided to reassure relatives and carers that assistance is available at the press of a button.

FirstStop - a new website and telephone advice line
FirstStop care advice is an independent, free service providing information and advice about care and housing in later life. It is provided jointly by Counsel and Care, Elderly Accomodation Counsel, Age Concern and NHFA Ltd. You can call the advice line on 0800 377 7070 or visit www.firststopcareadvice.org.uk.
Beware of bogus callers
The Mayor has held a tea party for victims of distraction burglary, plus police, fire service and community safety officers, to help people realise they are not the only people who have fallen prey to conmen. A new advice leaflet is also now available. The most important thing to remember is IF YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING SOMEONE, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR.

Keeping active
The Active Lifestyles Programme offers a variety of sessions including Keep Fit, Gentle Exercise, Health Walks, Keep On Moving, Tai Chi, Chair Based Exercise and NEW Fit 4 Life courses in a variety of sports. If you become a member of the Active Lifestyles Programme you will also benefit from:

- Invitations and offers to special events and new classes, leisure centres and health clubs

Happy birthday WCT
Wandsworth Community Transport celebrated its 25th anniversary in July at a special reception held at Wandsworth Civic Suite. The Mayor, councillors, members of staff, users of the service and volunteers all attended.
Entertainment was provided by the Baked Bean Theatre Company, which works with people with learning difficulties and has used WCT minibuses for more than ten years.
Wandsworth Community Transport provides accessible minibus transport for local organisations, a Shopmobility service that provides door-to-door shopping trips and excursions to places of interest.
Special rates at Putney School of Art and Design
If you are a Wandsworth resident and aged over 60 you are eligible for a 35 per cent reduction on the cost of courses at Putney School of Art and Design. Some places are still available for the autumn term. Choose from oil painting, watercolour, portrait painting, learn to draw, pottery, printmaking, digital photography, web design and more.
